Friends!

I've known Agnieszka for abut a year before we met in London. Trafalgar Square...right in the middle of a rally (count on me to pick the best meeting spot ;-) Agus - you're beautiful...inside & out. Thanks for the meeting. Graham - you're so nice, thanks for the tour! You guys BETTER visit me in Germany. ;-)))

it's March already?!

Apparently there is still a soul out there who regularly checks my blog so here comes a new entry to satisfy those curious eyes. ;-)
Well what can I tell you that you don't already know? Let's go back to England. It was fun overall, take away a few unfortunate at-school experiences and those two days of runny nose and scratchy throat. London definitely has a cosmopolitan look about it -- lots of billboards, streets crowded with buses and taxis, tourists everywhere, and a fashion scene that says "anything goes". You definitely feel that you're in an important city...and you feel small. Just like any other tourist. The city highlight for me, as corny as it sounds, was visiting the National Gallery (for FREE!). I finally got a glimpse at some lovely impressionist paintings, Sunflowers by Vincent, and the work of da Vinci...a.k.a my all-time favourite genius. No doubt about it, Leo stole the show...the Madonna had me coming back to steal another look at her. I scanned from top to bottom as if trying to create a mental polaroid because she was too amazing to recall from a postcard (which I bought at the gallery shop). And the most marvellous thing -- she was just a SKETCH!! Only Leo can do that....make a sketch look more beautiful than any other painting in the gallery. There was no competitor. Not even Claude.

I didn't really party it up London-style but I visited a few pubs. And? Pubs are pubs. Beer is beer. It don't matter where you are. The only difference was the second-hand smoke and smelling like an ash-tray at the end of the night. We have a no-smoking law here in Ontario and it's the Liberals' only good accomplishment in the last 10 years. But even that's ironic....they made cuts to our health care system and then introduced a no-smoking law. All to make us think that they actually DO care about our health. ;-)

The practicum...Suffice to say that my teacher and I were not exactly seeing eye-to-eye but the children made everything feel worthwhile. It was fun...I laughed, I cried, I learned.

And now I'm back in little North Bay breathing fresh air and working on the last pile of assignments and projects. Things are coming to an end here and I'm not even sure if that's good or bad... I'll definitely miss being independent and allergy-free. At the same time, I am waiting for a new chapter of my life to open up...in Europe. I'm excited and delighted...almost hesitant to believe it....almost afraid to. Lest I jinx it. Do you feel the same?
